A Multifaceted Leader, Academician & Social Reformer
Dr. Ravi Gedela is a distinguished academician, institutional leader, and social reformer whose career is defined by a deep commitment to empowering tribal communities and fostering student excellence. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at RGUKT–Srikakulam, he has held pivotal administrative roles, including Head of the Department of Biology & Biosciences and Dean of Student Welfare. With a robust academic foundation including an M.Tech and Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati, Dr. Gedela seamlessly bridges the gap between high-level scientific research and grassroots social activism.
In the realm of institutional building, Dr. Gedela has been a visionary architect of student-centric platforms. He is the Founder of the Student Gymkhana Centre (SGC) at RGUKT-Srikakulam and the Co-founder of the Student Development Campus Activities Cell (SDCAC) at RGUKT-Nuzvid. These initiatives have transformed campus life by providing organized avenues for technical, cultural, and leadership development, ensuring that students from rural backgrounds receive a holistic education that extends well beyond the classroom.
Beyond the university walls, Dr. Gedela is a tireless advocate for marginalized populations as the Chairperson of Manyapragathi, a grassroots NGO. His leadership was instrumental in the Grama Darshini campaign, a massive 350-day awareness initiative that addressed critical issues like tribal rights, education, and infrastructure. His advocacy has yielded tangible national results, contributing to significant government allocations for tele-connectivity and infrastructure in tribal regions, including a ₹26,460 Cr project for mobile towers in 30,000 villages.
Dr. Gedela’s work is further characterized by his innovative use of technology to preserve indigenous heritage and promote environmental stewardship. Through projects like the National e-Tribal Museum and the Virtual Biodiversity Platform, he has created digital archives that protect tribal languages and art while fostering conservation awareness. By integrating modern tools through his Digital Innovation Learning Clusters (DILEC), he continues to bridge the digital divide, nurturing the next generation of leaders through a unique blend of scientific temperament and social responsibility.
